Round Stock Right Angle
This is a tip how to make a fast tight right angle in round stock. I saw this done at SOFA in Ohio and was surprised how quick it can be done. If you click on the pics they will give you a larger view.
Pic #1 Items needed for this task are as follows: Anvil , Hammer, Stock, Half Round Swage Block and Cooling Tub. There is a link to a nice cheap one at the end of ths page.
Pic #2 Hammer your stock into a near right angle. Make the bend the thickness beyond the wanted location.
Pic #3 This is how it should look before next heating. Notice the bend is not quite 90 degrees.

Pic #4 Heat your stock to a bright yellow.
Pic #5 Cool stock down for the area you want above the bend.
Pic #6 Place the back of your bend into the swage and hammer on your cooled tip. This forces the metal down and into the bend and the swage keeps the stock round. As you hammer down this will right your angle.
Note: If you want to do several tight right angles you need to start with the furthest one in and work your way out towards the end.
